A day in Vallespir dedicated to the taste buds!

While strolling along the streets of Céret, take the time to enjoy one of our many brasseries, or buffets. Let yourself be tempted by a bistro cuisine made from fresh produce and come and enjoy the summer sun on one of the south-facing terraces that line the streets. Whether it is Le France, La Source or the Relais d’Oulrich, the Guy Molas restaurant on the outskirts of the city, the staff at these restaurants are only too happy to welcome you inside!

Are you a fan of local produce? Visit local producers in Vallespir and taste their range of produce from cherries to honey, olive oil, and wine …  Remember to book your visit in advance!

And the cherry on the cake? Each Saturday morning the historic centre of Céret dresses in a thousand different colours and scents at its famous market where more than 170 exhibitors hold a stall.

Between tradition and heritage, come and meet local producers and artisans who will be happy to introduce you to the best produce from Vallespir.  At the Céret market you can also find stalls of flowers, spices, clothes, jewellery, and crafts … To sum up the Céret market, it is a place of pure happiness!

Restaurants and good addresses are not what is missing in the Vallespir! There is something for every taste and every budget.

Full of culture!

Opening scheduled for the end of 2021

Visit the internationally renowned Musée d’Art Moderne in Ceret, which, having been recently renovated and expanded, offers new spaces to discover. This is an absolute must in Vallespir where culture is the order of the day!

Two artists created the museum in 1950: Pierre Brune and Franck Burty Haviland, both painters. It is the fruit of the passages and stays in the town and surrounding area of the greatest artists of the 20th century: Picasso, Braque, Gris, Soutine, Chagall, Herbin, Matisse, Masson, Krémègne then Miro, Tàpies, Viallat, Toni Grand, Bioulès …

The permanent expositions will leave you speechless, as will the equally fascinating temporary exhibitions which combine modern and contemporary art. Would you like to know a little more about the museum’s exhibits? Guides are available to accompany you on this journey with guided tours.

We visited the museum of Céret, and we were delighted with so many paintings by so many famous painters… Magnificent.
