As part of the photography exhibition “The Invisible: Senegalese Tirailleurs” by Warren Sare (Visa Off 2025) — on display from 4 September to 30 September — an event featuring photographs and videos will take place on Friday 25 September at 6.30 pm, hosted by a historian and members of ESF 66. This exhibition continues its tour of towns across the department. ESF 66 provides financial support for the work of Warren Sare, who travels throughout the French-speaking countries of West Africa with the aim of restoring the honour and recognition of the last surviving African combatants who came to fight in the French armed forces during the two world wars, as well as in Algeria and Indochina. In doing so, he is carrying out a remarkable effort to preserve history – a history still remembered by some residents of the Roussillon region, as the 24th Colonial Infantry Regiment, formed in 1902, was based in Perpignan for many years.
