Description

JAZZ AND TECH Picabia, “The scandalous night bird” and the other, no less scandalous bird, “Bird” – the brilliant Charlie Parker – share a passion for a new language, for an aesthetic break steeped in a certain madness that the alchemy of time calls genius! Improvising in front of a Picabia painting: this is the challenge that three musicians are setting for the painter, whom the Céret Museum has had the excellent idea of celebrating more than 70 years after his death. Three paintings will be chosen by the musicians – Alain Brunet on trumpet, Olivier Roman-Garcia on guitar and Pascal Bouterin on percussion – to create an improvised dialogue “in the image of a painting that lives of its own accord, beyond any objective reproduction”. A look at this painter, who was perceived as a “wealthy local oddball who passed the time with painting”. These performances are presented by the Jazz en Tech festival in collaboration with the Céret Museum of Modern Art. Free on presentation of a ticket for the day’s event.
