Visit the world-renowned Museum of Modern Art of Céret, with its new contemporary wing.
Discover its temporary and permanent exhibitions, which bear witness to the work of many famous artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Soutine, Chagall…
In Vallespir, you can also discover the region’s only Cork Museum in Maureillas-las Illas, the House of Water and the Mediterranean in Le Boulou, the only establishment in the region to offer an initiatory journey to the heart of water, and the Music Museum in Céret, with the largest collection of reed oboes in the world.

HOUSE OF WATER AND THE MEDITERRANEAN IN LE BOULOU

A cultural center for scientific communication on the theme of water, in keeping with the history and heritage of the town of Le Boulou.

Its innovative museography emphasizes the transmission of knowledge through experimental, immersive and interactive spaces that appeal to all the senses. Throughout the tour, water is explained in all its forms, with a focus on the issues involved in preserving water resources, not only on a local scale, but also on a wider, global, human scale.

CORK MUSEUM IN MAUREILLAS-LAS-ILLAS

Founded by former cork-makers and local residents, the museum introduces visitors to the life of the cork oak, its ecology, harvesting and processing, and its many uses. It presents the tools and operations used to make corks, as well as the many often little-known uses of oak.

INK LIGHT ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY CENTER

The Centre d’Art et de Photographie Lumière d’Encre, located in Céret in the Pyrénées-Orientales region, is a space dedicated to contemporary photography. Since 1988, it has supported artistic creation through residencies, exhibitions, conferences and educational initiatives. Lumière d’Encre provides artists with technical resources (silver and digital laboratories, shooting studio) and support to develop their projects in connection with the region and its inhabitants.

MUSIC MUSEUM IN CERET

invites you to discover collections of traditional and popular instruments from around the world. Oboes, flutes, stringed instruments and percussion instruments highlight the people who play and make them.

Located at the heart of a cross-border and Mediterranean region where the oboe tradition is still very much alive, the Museum invites visitors to discover musical instruments and objects from Africa, the Near East, Asia, Europe and the Americas, reflecting the richness and diversity of music.

Created by Didier Fusillier, President of the Parc et Grande Halle de la Villette, the Micro-folie features no fewer than 2,300 masterpieces in high definition.
12 major national institutions and 28 regional museums, not to mention some of Europe’s finest châteaux, are on offer to Boulounencs, on media such as tablets, giant screens and virtual reality headsets.

HOUSE OF HISTORY IN BOULOU

Permanent exhibition presenting all periods of history, from the Paleolithic to the present day, and linking them with the local history of Le Boulou.

You can discover the collection of “La Bataille du Boulou”, contemplate a reproduction of the frieze that the Master of Cabestany sculpted for our Sainte-Marie church, and admire the model of the old Le Boulou suspension bridge. Temporary exhibitions all year round.
