CÉRET Capital of the Sardana for one weekend

Each year, Céret proudly celebrates its Catalan roots with a vibrant and iconic event: the Festival of the Sardana. In a warm and festive atmosphere, the town’s historic squares become open-air stages where the melodies of the coblas ring out and dancers form joyful circles.

Discover the sardana through dancers from across the region and Spanish Catalonia.

In the heart of summer, Céret becomes a must-visit destination for lovers of tradition, music, and conviviality.

A living tradition

The sardana is much more than a dance: it is a symbol of unity, freedom, and Catalan identity. In Céret, it is danced hand in hand, in a circle, to the rhythm of the cobla, a typically Catalan orchestra. From experienced dancers to curious onlookers, everyone is invited to join the circle.

The festival keeps this tradition alive with passion and authenticity, passing on a precious intangible heritage to new generations.

WHAT TO EXPECT

For several days, Céret moves to the rhythm of the sardana. Here’s a glimpse of the highlights :

Cobla concerts in the town’s main squares

Giant sardanas open to all, day and night

Sardana workshops for young and old

Traditional folk atmosphere and street entertainment

A joyful, intergenerational celebration, in a town where every street resonates with the Catalan spirit.
